Shit on a Shingle

aka SOS aka creamed chipped beef on toast 😋
Chipped beef on toast (or creamed chipped beef on toast) is a dish comprising of a white sauce
and pieces of dried beef, served on toasted bread.
In the United States, chipped beef on toast was commonly served to service members of the United States Armed Forces
from World War I through Vietnam. According to We Are The Mighty, a recipe for chipped beef first appears in the 1910 Manual for Army Cooks.

Chipped beef is dried, thinly sliced, and salted. It’s often sold in jars or pouches and has a concentrated, salty flavor. This is the traditional choice for SOS. This US SOS. That said, there are sone out there that nake this dish, sort of, with Buddig sliced beef (lunch meat really; not same) and/or groybd beef. I remember school cafeteria making ground beef style. They served it over mashed potatoes 路‍♀️ When it comes to making dinners… “make it work”   onto original recipe.
