Pear Glazed Ham

Adapted from a recipe I found on Dixie Crystal’s website, great products, and RECIPES 😋

I did lay my ham face down in pan 😉 AND I made my own brown sugar, which I like heavy with the molasses. As you can see from the pictures below, I served this one with potato salad 😍 Damn delicious ham, AND potato salad.

⬆️ When it’s hot, I use my countertop convection oven. Otherwise, conventional ⤵️

Make glaze in saucepan. When I don’t have years, I substitute other fruit, like oranges are good 😋 pineapple is too 👌

“This gorgeously glazed ham will be the star of your holiday spread. It has a perfectly sweet candied outside with soft spiced pears to serve on the side.” And that it does! It’s delicious.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 (15 oz) halved pears in 100% juice
  • 1 1/2 cups Dixie Crystals Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 3/4 teaspoon all spice
  • 1 (8 to 10 pound) spiral sliced smoked ham

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Place ham in roasting dish, set aside.
  2. In a medium sauce pan over medium-high heat, combine pears (with juice), dark brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, vanilla extract, pepper and all spice. Bring to a low boil for 10 minutes, until slightly thickened.
  3. Slowly pour the pear mixture on top of the ham. Cover with foil and place ham in oven.
  4. Cook for a total of two hours, basting the ham every 30 minutes.
  5. Let ham rest for 15 minutes, then serve.
