Adapted from ShugarySweets , because I don’t measure 🤭 I’ve been making egg salad for 50 years now. I added chopped green onion to mine this time, just a little. Also, I like to mix dressing ingredients in a bowl first so that it gets well blended.
When it comes to egg salad, everyone thinks their recipe is best. And it’s usually made the way your family served it as a kid.
Some people prefer Miracle Whip while others go with mayonnaise. Like with cilantro, there seems to be two camps. 🤪 A big part of that is from what you grew up with. Not that one is better than the other; childhood memories. Then people’s tastes can change, and usually does, throughout their life. Or you have developed a sophisticated palate.
Either way, what matters is what and how you like what you eat.
Basic recipe, aside from the “secret” ingredient of worchestershire sauce here. However, many like celery, parsley, green onion, or relish (I shudder), other personal preferences like that. Many like lettuce, tomato, pickled red onion, etc., on their egg salad sandwich; along with favorite bread… or croissant.
My family likes it simple, with good fresh bread.
Ingredients:
I double this…
6 large eggs
¼ cup mayonnaise or Miracle Whip
¼ teaspoon celtic sea salt, or kosher
½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon dry mustard, or regular
Instructions:
First, start by hard boiling your eggs. I’ve always followed the same method for perfect hard-boiled eggs ⤵️
Place eggs in a saucepan and pour in cold water to cover; place over high heat. When water starts to simmer and eggs start to dance around a little, turn off heat, cover the pan quickly with a lid, and let stand for 17 minutes. Don’t peek.
Pour out hot water and pour cold water over eggs. Drain and refill with cold water; let stand until eggs are cool, about 20 minutes.
Peel eggs under running water.
- Peel hard boiled eggs and place in a mixing bowl. Add mayonnaise, salt, Worcestershire sauce and mustard.
- Use a potato masher to combine all the ingredients. You decide how chunky you like YOUR egg salad!

fabulous eggs! Wow!
